mehr oder weniger Freiheit?!
(engl. more or less freedom?!)

The book Ich weiß nicht, was ich wollen soll by the German author Bas Kast was the basis and inspiration for that project. It’s about having difficulties with decisions as a result of having so many options. The author checks why we are less satisified despite all our freedom and privileges, especially regarding Generation Y. I designed a magazine with loose posters in it with various aspects of that topic. The magazine contains different text layers of various kinds.

Bas Kast – quote: It’s about privileged urban neurotics that lament about impertinences of modern life.

Fragen: In the beginning I asked myself some questions concerning Generation Y. Are my decisions the right ones? Should I try something else again? Is my current partner the perfect match? Do I want to have children and, if so, when? What profession should I practice?

Table of content: In the following the content of the magazine is shown.

Layers: As written before there are different layers. Quotes, personal experiences and views, theories and studies and positive perspectives for the future.

Bas Kast – quote: It’s about having so many chances and being able of fulfilling our desires. Bas Last asks himself why we are struggling with love and life and what’s behind all that.

Poster: The two posters in the format A0 are placed loose in the magazine and are cut in smaller parts (A4, A3, A2). They show 3D-objects, that represent a specific aspect in which decisions are a thing. In addition there are some quotes I collected from people of that Generation.
